Advocating for change is at the heart of public health. Whether it’s improving access to services, shaping healthier environments or influencing government policy, effective public health advocacy can create lasting impact.
The University of Canberra’s Public Health Advocacy short course equips professionals across health, government and the not-for-profit sector with the tools to make that impact count.
Led by Dr Michael Moore AM, former CEO of the Public Health Association of Australia and past President of the World Federation of Public Health Associations, the course gives you direct access to decades of advocacy experience at the highest levels. You’ll hear from guest speakers who have driven real change at the local, national and international levels, offering behind-the-scenes insight into how to influence decision makers and build momentum for your cause.
What you’ll learn
This hands-on course explores core advocacy strategies including:
- Values-based messaging and persuasive communication
- Media engagement (traditional and social)
- Coalition building and grassroots mobilisation
- Preparing for parliamentary and commission inquiries
Through interactive workshops and practical examples, you’ll build confidence to engage in strategic advocacy and policy change.
