2024 Program: 6 x Internships Available

CAPHIA are pleased to call for applications for our 2024 Internship Program. The CAPHIA Internship Program is designed to optimise the value provided to competitively selected interns by embedding them within a major CAPHIA Program and existing governance to support each intern and provide practical public health experience. The Interns will work closely with CAPHIA staff and the relevant governance group to progress their work and deliver tangible outputs and outcomes. Previous intern outputs have included intern articles, contribution to advocacy submissions and initiatives, creation of social media tiles, desktop research and case study development and event logistic assistance (e.g. Teaching and Learning Forum). Internships are tailored to the experience and interests of each intern, balanced with the CAPHIA needs. Watch this video to hear from a 2023 intern, Gem Allinson. Interns will be paid a stipend of $1000 in recognition of their contribution and to enhance equity and work-study-life balance.

2024 Internship Program expanded in partnership with the World Health Summit Regional Meeting and Monash University

The World Health Summit will create a platform to elevate the most significant health challenges impacting the Asia-Pacific region to a global stage, to build new collaborations, and to co-create pathways forward.

We’re thrilled to announce that we’re expanding our Paid Internship Program for 2024, with the inclusion of two additional opportunities in partnership with the World Health Summit. These joint internships will support two part-time interns between February and April 2024.

The CAPHIA-WHS Interns will report in to the CAPHIA Executive Director and work closely with the WHS organising team at Monash University to assist with logistics, contribute to session coordination and provide student perspectives to ensure future leaders are actively included and represented in event proceedings.

Two (2) CAPHIA-WHS Internships are available in 2024:

🔵 February – April months (3 months, @ 2-3 days / week)

CAPHIA-WHS interns must be available to attend the World Health Summit in person. The remainder of the internship may be completed virtually. Travel expenses are not reimbursed.

The CAPHIA Internship Program 2024 provides member institutions with the opportunity for their students to receive on the job experience in supporting and advocating for public health teaching and learning, and research while developing their business acumen and social media skills.
CAPHIA Interns will obtain specific experience in an area of practice-based academic public health. This may include:

  • Translation and application of public health skills and knowledge (providing real-world experience to obtain paid employment in the field)
  • Professional writing opportunities such as contributing to submissions, position statements, and project management documentation
  • Advocacy and Engagement through social media and traditional media
  • Participation in stakeholder engagement through working group meetings, workshops and webinars.

Interns will be provided with direct access to world-class public health academics across Australasia and have networking opportunities within both the academic space and in public health more broadly.

2024 CAPHIA Interns will receive a letter confirming their participation upon successful completion of the program in addition to their $1000 stipend.

Internships may be eligible for work-integrated learning, placements or other practice-based learning. This can be negotiated with the successful applicants.
